This binary molecule is produced during electrical discharges or lightings, in a natural way, being a by-product of substance combustions in the air. Even though it is a simple molecule, researchers have come to the conclusion that nitric oxide is very important in the medical field. In fact, nitric oxide was even proclaimed &#8216;Molecule of the Year&#8217;, in 1992.</p>
<p>The main medical areas in which nitric oxide is helpful are immunology, neuroscience and physiology. Also, nitric oxide is used to treat neonatal patients who suffer from pulmonary hypertension. The nitric oxide and oxygen blends are able to promote capillary and pulmonary dilatation, which helps the patients suffering from the aforementioned conditions who are in critical stages. Nitric oxide is more commonly known as a pollutant that is air born which flows from machines that give of waste gases such as a combustion engine.</p>
<p>Nitric oxide is also found in humans and is a positive part of the bodies everyday functioning as well as a negative part of the human body.  In small doses this gas is not harmful to humans as resides in our bodies to aid the transportation of messages through neural pathways that travel up and down the spine. Even though it is known as a pollutant the nitric oxide that is found in the body of mammals and people is only in trace amounts and not overly toxic at that stage.
